When the Wind Blows

"Remember, I have given you authority; so you can trample down snakes and scorpions, indeed, all the Enemy’s forces; and you will remain completely unharmed." Luke 10:19

When I was in high school, I visited a friend at her home for the day.  There was a sign hanging on the heavy metal cylinder pole for their store and the store was attached to their house. The sign was about 20 feet away from the kitchen window. In the afternoon, a tornado whipped down their street. I remember seeing the kitchen window shake, and it cracked.  There was absolutely no visibility when you looked out the window. My friend's Father put his hands up in the air as he said boldly, "In the name of Jesus, I speak peace to the wind". The wind died within seconds. We went outside to check the damage afterward. There was a trail of damage down the road where it had come from, and their store sign was the only thing that was partly disengaged from the heavy metal stand, but the trail of damage stopped right in front of my friend's home where the wind died. True story!

He lifted his hands and took his stand against the approaching enemy.   Sometimes our faith is weak and the forces in front of us seem to be pressing in for our destruction. Remind yourself how big your God is. How strong and powerful his shield is and how great his covering and refuge is. His protective shield cannot be penetrated.  Even more so, his Spirit lives in us, and he is greater in us than anything we face in the world today. Even in the storm, he proves he is with you. He may be standing on the shore calling you in, but you must take the first step, lift your hands in surrender and take your stand, your rightful place in Christ.
